The Process
The Social Security Administration will forward your application to a state agency if it meets basic criteria. The state agency makes a determination of eligibility. Factors considered in determining whether you are disabled and eligible include:

An ALJ has more latitude than the initial decision makers to make allowances for your claim. Your chances are good if you have made it this far.
